This new nightlife version of your high school's gay/straight alliance is already quite successful by Hollywood standards: It has its own reality show.
"Open Bar," airing this fall on Logo (MTV's new gay network), follows the efforts of i candy owner Tyler Robuck, whose own coming-out struggles inspired him to bridge the Hollywood and West Hollywood scenes with this border lounge catering to dapper denizens of both. (It's just west of Fairfax Avenue, in the old Belly location—WeHo, yes, but not far enough west to be included in the Micky's/Rage strip of sin.) Rock mixes with R&B; the menu is a kind of Asian tapas fusion; the décor, much like Monroe's on Melrose, manages to assert a low-key intimacy despite generous helpings of bold color.
